Duke Energy Carolinas (DEC) filed an application to increase its rates by approximately 12.8% with the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSC) in January 2024. If approved, the average residential consumer's monthly bill would increase by $17.83 per month in the first and second years -- and an additional $6.43 per month in the third year. The case is scheduled to be considered by the PSC beginning May 20, 2024, with new rates effective August 1, 2024.

General Service customers would see an average increase of approximately 8.6% in the first two years and an additional increase of 3.3% in the third year, for a combined three-year increase of 11.9%. Industrial customers would see an average increase of approximately 8.2% in the first two years and an additional increase of 3.1% in the third year, for a combined three-year increase of 11.3%.
