As a state agency, the ORS follows the guidelines set forth in the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code 30-4-10 et. seq.
Pursuant to S.C. Code Ann. § 30-2-50(A), a person or private entity shall not knowingly obtain or use personal information obtained from a state agency for commercial solicitation directed to any person in this State.
While no particular format is required for requests for public records pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the ORS prefers requests submitted online in order to assist with providing a response as timely as possible. Requests can be made in writing or online and may be submitted in person or by mail. Please state that you are requesting the records under the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act. To assist the ORS staff with the request and to better ensure a more accurate response, please be as specific as possible about the records you are requesting.
