Utility line personnel work year-round to ensure power systems are maintained and that power is restored as quickly as possible in the event of an outage. In honor of National Lineman Appreciation Day, the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS) recognizes the dedication and efforts of our state’s electrical personnel – the men and women who help keep electricity flowing in South Carolina.
Monday, April 18, 2022 will celebrate National Lineman Appreciation Day – a day to honor those who dedicate themselves to the often-hazardous work of keeping our lights on.
When Mother Nature destroys the infrastructure that has been built by utility line personnel, linemen are on call to rebuild it as quickly as possible. These men and women work tirelessly to restore electric service. Given the weather events that affect our state’s electric grid, their work is vital.
“With the tornadoes that impacted several areas of our state on April 5, we recently observed just a small portion of what linemen do to restore our power,” said Nanette Edwards, Executive Director of the ORS. “South Carolina electrical personnel work very hard to keep power flowing, and their efforts do not go unnoticed.”
The ORS salutes the women and men who help ensure reliable, essential utility services in South Carolina.
