A Class A motor carrier uses a vehicle to transport passengers and operates on regular routes and schedules that are approved by the PSC.
With the passengers, Class A motor carriers can transport baggage, express (the quick and efficient transportation of goods, mail, money, etc. usually at a premium rate), mail, and newspapers. Carriers can also transport baggage of passengers in separate motor vehicles if necessary, but the baggage must be picked up and delivered to a facility of a Class A motor carrier. Class A motor carriers may transport special or chartered parties to and from any point along their authorized routes. Restricted Class A motor carriers may not transport special or chartered parties.
All Class A motor carriers must obtain a Certificate of PC&N from the ORS after approval by the PSC.
