Duke Energy Progress (DEP) filed an application to increase its rates by approximately 14.4% with the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSC) in September 2022. The average residential consumer's monthly bill would increase by $14.36 per month in the first year (2023), an additional $4.40 per month in the second year (2024), and an additional $5.41 per month in the third year (2025), if approved.

The case is scheduled to be considered by the PSC in January 2023 with new rates effective in April 2023.

Commercial and industrial customers would see an average increase of approximately 11.2% and 8.3%, respectively.

Consumers can fill out a Letter of Protest on the PSC’s website or attend public hearings and testify to participate in the case and voice their concerns.  The PSC website has more information on how consumers can sign up to speak at these public hearings.  More information on this rate increase request can be found on our "Duke Energy Progress (DEP) Request for Rate Increase" page or our "Duke Energy Progress (DEP) ORS Adjustment Review Summary" page.
