ORS Releases Consumer Information on Palmetto Wastewater Reclamation, Inc. Rate Increase Request

Palmetto Wastewater Reclamation, Inc. (PWR) filed an application to increase its rates by approximately 13.7% with the Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSC) in June 2021. The average residential consumer’s monthly bill would increase by $5.20 per month if approved. The case is scheduled to be considered by the PSC in November 2021.

PWR provides service to over 1,600 customers and operates in Lexington and Richland counties. The company is requesting a total revenue increase of almost $500,000 or 13.6%. The average monthly bill of a residential consumer is currently $37.92 but would increase to $43.12 if rates are approved.

Consumers can fill out a Letter of Protest on the PSC’s website or attend public hearings and testify to participate in the case and voice their concerns. Public hearings are scheduled from 9 AM - 1 PM and from 4 PM - 8 PM on November 8th and starting at 12 PM and proceeding as needed on November 9th.
