The consistent and reliable quality of drinking water is at the heart of this year’s Drinking Water Week theme, “There When You Need It” – a theme aptly timed when customers expect utility services to be “there when you need it” more than ever before. Clean drinking water is vitally important, especially in the midst of a global pandemic, and the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS) recognizes the dedication and effort of our state’s water professionals -- hardworking men and women who help keep water flowing in South Carolina.
The American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Drinking Water Week, held May 3-9 this year, recognizes the vital role tap water plays in daily life, the infrastructure that is required to carry it to and from homes and businesses, and the important work of water professionals “behind the scenes.”
Reliable water service used for hygiene, hydration, and cooking is critical to our health and safety throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Most South Carolinians are fortunate to have reliable access to safe water when they turn on the tap, and this resource would not be available without the water professionals that continue to serve customers during this challenging time.
Thank you for your dedication. Stay safe, and we appreciate all that you do.
